Crazy!

Hey family and friends. Sorry for such a late email. We went the library today and for some reason the computers at the library would not let us get us on any of the church websites. So I'm now at the Hatchers house emailing you on there iPad. Haha don't worry I asked Pres. Gerber if we could and he said yes. :)
Now onto the week! This last week has been a very good week for us in the Blue water area! On Monday we were able to go to the Bills and have a great dinner and also shared an uplifting message. We talked about the sons of Mosiah and of course Alma the younger. Just talked about how we can all just stand up for our faith and other things in life. Without backing down.
On Tuesday we did not have much to do but we were able to make a great day out of it. First we went over to the local hospital and asked if we could putt ourself down on a list so we can give blessing and service. The we went to a less active house, Brother Rae who we have not been to for a long time. Brother Rae is about in his 80 amazing man but his health and other things are stopping him from coming back to church. Later in the afternoon we were able to see a family that just moved into the ward and hoping to start coming back to church. Around 6 we went with the Zimmers to a nice restaurant that looks over to Canada.
Wednesday we had District meeting and it was great. The focus of district meeting was on teaching with unity and also adjusting your teaching needs to the person. Chapter 10 of PMG. This week focus will be on more finding and the Lapeer Sisters will be giving the instruction/discussion. Other then that we went and help people in the ward move and stopped by a couple of family's.
Thursday Elder Leonard had his one year temple trip! So that meant that Elder Wallace and I had to go down to North Shores with another Elder and help him in his area. Haha one funny thing is later that night Elder Leonard did not have dinner so we went to Panda Express in Troy. Guess who I saw......it was Jazlyn (Curney) a family I baptized in Troy about two years ago. It was pretty awesome. Sounds like the family is doing great!
Friday and Saturday we basically just stopped by less actives and knocked doors which is great! Found one new investigator which is always great. We are planning to see Sean this Thursday but sadly I will be on an exchange with Elder Peterson in his area of Lapeer.

It's crazy to think that this week is my last full week of being a missionary. It's sad butt it will be a great last week of working hard and having fun all at the same time! :) I will be shipping my bike home tomorrow, I have the box and all just need to dropped off at UPS and swipe the card sadly.

We'll love you family and can't believe it's already that time. :) I know that the church is true and really that I have and will be learning a lot this last week.

Awesome Week!!

This week has been a pretty good week up in the Blue Water area. So yesterday I was able to go up to the Crosswell meeting with Brother Beem ( member of the bishopric). The Crosswell meeting went great. We had seven less actives attend church up there. It made my whole week because I've always have been big on Less Active work and it was great to see a little of it pay off  yesterday. There was about 35 people to attended up there. I had Elder Leonard and Elder Wallace stay down here in the Blue Water Ward so they could take care of our investigators that came and any Less Actives. I was able to bless the Sacrament and it was amazing because I have not been able to do that every since I was in the MTC.
We've been working with the Hinkel family, they are doing great! Only two of the kids showed up to church yesterday. We are planning on seeing them tonight after we go over to the Bills (every other week, Less Active family) for dinner. We've been working with this other young man name Adam. Adam was meeting with the missionary's about a year ago but had to stop because family request but now that he is 18 he started back up. On Tuesday we were able to go and teach him about The Restoration. It was more like a review! We are planning to see Adam this next week and will be reviewing The Plan Of Salvation. Adam is on date for July 19th also.
So if everything works out we should have a couple of baptism this next month!! :)
This week I was able to go on an exchange with Elder Searle. Elder Searle is an awesome Elder that been out for over a year. Elder Searle is from Boise, Idaho. Planning on going on a exchange my last week with Elder Peterson in Lapeer. District Meeting went great! The focus was on Finding using the survey that the mission came out with. On the the ex change Elder Searle and I used it and we were able to get a couple of return appointments and also teach The Restoration. This week the focus for District meeting will be on Teaching in Unity and Adjust teaching to meet needs. Chapter 10.
Other then that we've been just contacting people and working with Less Actives in the area. Received information about Returning home. So I will next week let you know about the bike and all that stuff.

Have an amazing week!! :) Elder Jenson

Amazing Week!!

Another amazing week in the mission! :) Where to start. On Monday we went out with Brother Griffin and saw a recent convert/less active. Adam .S is an amazing middle age man that loves the Gospel. Adam has not been to church for a couple of weeks because of work and school. But when we do see him at church or even are able to meet with him he has a very strong testimony.
This week we've done lot's of contacting down on the board walks. Not to many people have be interested but still really nice people out here. One funny thing is the last couple of weeks that we've been down on the board walks contacting people we have run into members from out west. One was a mother and a son that were on a trip out to  Michigan just for fun and family stuff. They told us that it good to see that missionary's are doing work. Then this week we heard a couple of girls from a car say "Elders" so I look and did not recognize them. So we went over and the 20 year old girls told us that they are going to UVU in Utah. We said "cool" then just talked about where they are from and where we were form. Good girls but from what we got that they won't very active any more but who knows. It's just been a testimony to me that everyone is watching you and also there are always members watching the missioners everywhere you might be. :)
We've been teaching the Hinkel  family over the last week or so. They are still on date for July 19th :) Two of the kids Joel and Joyce came to church yesterday and they said they loved it and want to comeback next week. Well that's what we heard from some of the members. So they are doing great, hopefully we can still keep the ball rolling. Other then that not to many investigators, still working with a couple less actives. Speaking about less active we were able to see a less active family that Elder Humphreys and I saw only a couple of time during our time as companions. The family asked us if we could come do some service for them so we did and then we got  kicked out because one of the Elders said something they did not like at all. It was right for the family to ask us  leave. The reason I bring this up is because even if you might think the joke might not hurt you it might hurt someone else. So we have to be smart in our talk with anyone we come into contact with.
This last week we did not have District Meeting because of Zone Conference. It was crazy to sit there on Wednesday at Zone Conference and say that it was my last one. The Zone Conference went amazing. It was on revelation through Church, Prayer, Read and how we can get our recent converts to stay active after baptism! This week District Meeting will be focused on Finding! :)  Specifically how we can better use the surveys in our finding! In the mission they come out with a survey that will better help us know were the people are with religion and all. See if they are Joseph ( how President Holmes would put it! :)) I love the concept to find out if they would be more willing to listen and if they are the one.
Other then that not much has been up. Will be going on ex-change this Wednesday :) Love the mission and really will miss it but for now just need to keep working.

 Love Elder Jenson

June 2, 2014 (one month from today!)

Great Week!!

Hey Family and Friends, So this week was another great week over in the Blue Water Mission (Out in the edge of no where, makes up most of the Michigan Detroit Mission). Joke that we have out here with other Elders that have served here because really no one does no what goes on over here ;)

Anyways this week we were able to fin 6 new investigators through media referral and putt 5 of the family members on date for July 19th!! :) The Hinkle was a referral from there great Grandpa that's from Idaho, from the sounds of it he is a Patriarch in the church. The farther is working on his way back into the church. The mother of the family we saw was raised in the church but never did get baptized. From what the family told us, is that the two daughters were calling up there great grandpa asking them questions about our church and what we believed. So he asked here  gran daughter if he can send a couple of people to the house to answer there questions about the church. We've been over there twice so far :) Taught the Restoration and yesterday talked about The Book Of Mormon and where it came from and all. It went great planning to see them this next week on Friday.
Doina dropped us over this past week. Sent her a text asking her like always when we can set up and share a lesson and answer any questions she has about her reading through The Book Of Mormon. She said " Hi, thank you for all the time you spent helping me, but I've decided I won't be continuing with our meeting" Then the other Elder said to ask "why she is not meeting with us anymore" so I did, nothing back. So the next day I text'ed her and just said "Hey Doin, if there is anything we can do for your or your husband you can always give us a call. It's been great to be able to meet with you and get to know you also help you.  We encourage you to keep reading and praying. If anytime you want to come to church you always welcome" She text'ed back a couple minutes later and said that will do with the reading and praying.  Hopefully we left her in good feelings with the church so if she does want to know she will ask to set up another appointment. I'm pretty positive that she will accept the Gospel in this time or in the next! :) She has what she needs to begin.
My first District meeting went great! We had the Zone Leaders at it, Elder Uptain (goes home with me) and Elder Bytheway (not related to John Bytheway) but anyways had the focus on Retaining New Members! Went great from what the Zone Leaders told me after District meeting. Then I gave the discussion/ instruction on Retaining New Members and then made up a practice that went into........practicing the Gospel Of Jesus  Christ Pamphlet on really focusing on Enduring to the End .
Don't have to come up with any assignments this week because of Zone Conference on Wednesday.

Love the Mission it's so crazy it's almost at the end. I would not give anything back for it!! Just still keeping focused and enjoying every last few weeks I have out here. The Church Is True and everything in The Book Of Mormon is for our day!

I found a cool little insight this week while I was flipping through my Book Of Mormon trying to decide what we should share with a family in the ward. So I have shared to you about Nephi killing Laban, Right?! Anyways this his what I believe how he prepared him self for that moment in life. As we see in the very first chapter in the first verse of 1 Nephi he says " I Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my farther.........." Nephi recognized that he had some amazing parents. So
the Lord trusted him. Then in 1 Nephi 2: 3 it talks about being obedient as Nephi saw in his farther. Then when the Lord saw that he was learning from being obedient and saw that he loved his parents he told Lehi to ask his sons to go back to Jerusalem. We see in 1 Nephi 3:7 Nephi's willingness to "will go and do". The Lord was preparing Nephi to kill Laban even if Nephi did not know that. By listening to the still small voice and his common sense.

Well Love Your Family and Friends!! :) Have a great week!

New Transfer!

Hey sounds like everyone is doing great at home. Jack Rabbits getting shoot at and baseball games. :) Sounds like the life!

Well for out here in the Michigan Detroit Mission we just had transfers last Tuesday. Now do have two new companions Elder Leonard and Elder Wallace. Elder Leonard is from Spokane, Washington, He's been out a year. Very hard worker and loves to teach and takes most of the lesson. Now with Elder Wallace, Elder Wallace has been out for 18 months, he's from Fruit Heights, Utah. Very to him self kid. Does not say much but is a very nice kid. I've been around him through out the mission. It should be a great last transfer.

We had the opportunity last Tuesday same day as transfers go over to Lancing and hear Jefferey R. Holland speak to us, which was amazing. Jefferey R. Holland focused on when Elder and Sister return home WE NEED TO STAY ACTIVE! He told us that if we don't have any baptisms the most important one you need  to convert is your self. He went on and talked about how there is to many missionaries coming home and then going less active. Then he talked about converting people to the gospel. Also Our Purpose as missionaries. He also talked about the set up with the church and how he gets interviewed almost everyday by news people. Asking him about all the questions about the church. Then when he tells them about missionary work and how we have missionaries all over from "Kanab,Ut, small town to South Africa" ( Jefferey R. Holland said that on May 20, 2014) It was funny because almost all the Michigan Detroit Mission knows me because of my voice and such a good missionary that is him self. So the missionaries that were close to me said Elder Jenson. Jefferey R. Holland went on about how they are 18-21 year old man and woman not getting paid spending 2 years out in a different state or wherever and they preach the Gospel. Jefferey R. Holland says it always gets them and so amazed by that. All 390 missionaries from Detroit Michigan Mission and the Lancing Michigan Mission were about to shake his hand. We just said hi then he said nothing and looked into our eyes and interviewed us.

Well tomorrow is the first District Meeting. The Focus is going to be on Retaining Members. That's what I feel like what the District needs because we've been having a good couple baptisms in our District the last couple months. Chapter 13 of PMG.

Well Love you Family and keep up the Great work!! :) It's crazy how fast time does go by and it been worth it to be out here on a mission. I've been able to learn a lot more about Jesus Christ, The Book Of Mormon and the Bible. Also of course my self and how I can be a better, brother, Son and etc.

Love Elder Jenson

May 19, 2014

Great week!! :)

To start off we've been able to meet and work with a couple of investigators that we do have. Doina who we have been working with about a month now.  We had a lesson with Doina on Thursday and gave her a Book Of Mormon in Ramona. She is starting to read it. I know that if she does read it with real intent that many of her questions will be answered. She is willing to come to church and have us teach her but she won't get baptized because she's been baptized and knows that she has the Holy Ghost. This week I will and my two new companions will be going over what she has read in the Book Of Mormon and the authority we need from God to baptize.
Your probably saw that I'm getting two new companions! :) We had transfer calls on Friday and we found out that Elder Humphreys will be leaving :(... Sunday morning we got a call from President Gerber, Elder Humphreys got called to be a District Leader wherever he goes and I will also be a District leader for my last transfer. The District( Lapeer Sister, Lapeer Elders and Us) is pretty much the same other then we will be having three Elders in Lapeer because Elder Ewell (who came out with me)  will be going home a couple weeks early. There will be only two Sisters in Lapeer now. I will be getting two new companions. I don't know why, probably because President won't have to worry of moving lot's of Elders and Sister next transfer. Just can keep the two Elders her in Blue Water or watching over me the last transfer, Just kidding. :)  Oh yeah this week I will be interviewing a investigator the Lapeer Sister have been teaching!
Tomorrow will be transfers over in Lancing then we will be able to listen to Elder Jefferey R. Holland teach us for a couple of hours so that really cool. It's crazy to look back and be able to now say that I've been able to meet 3 Apostles of the Lord ( Dallin H. Oaks, D. Todd Christofferson, and tomorrow Jefferey R. Holland).

Yesterday we had amazing sacrament meeting! All the Seminar Students in the ward  had there Seminar program. It was very powerful and made me think how grateful I am to be able say I graduated seminar and learned many cool insights about the scriptures. Yesterday was a great day really did make me think how I want to end my mission strong and what I can do to help the Michigan Detroit Mission.
Love the Gospel and all it has done for me!! I'm so great full and also will be great full the rest off my life for what dad's decision to serve a mission did for me! :) I know the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints is the same church the Jesus Christ did set up when he was here.

Love Your Family and Friends!! :

Gotta Love Mothers Day!!!

Another good week over in the 70 degree weather of Michigan Detroit Mission! So to start off the week like always we have a fun P-day, because that is the most important day of the week, just kidding. Anyways we played softball over at the Hatcher family and today we went fishing up in Croswell. In the river! Elder Humphreys caught a Pike then it started to rain which is never fun.
We taught Doina this week on Tuesday with the Sultemeier . Another great lesson with her, went over The Gospel of Jesus Christ and she had many great questions. We asked her if she wanted to get baptized but she said give me more time and also she wants to came to church and find out more. After the lesson she asked use if we could just talk about why Elder Humphreys and I our members of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. This week we will be having a lesson on more of why we as our self I guess joined this church. I'm really excited to able to more express why I'm a member of this church. Also why I came out on a mission.
We've been also teaching a middle age man name Dan over the last couple of weeks, Off and ON. We were able to go over to a members house and teach Dan there. We taught Dan about the Plan Of Salvation and he had many great deep questions that took a good couple of minutes to go over. This week we our hoping of putting him on date to be baptized! :)
Other then that just been teaching people and finding also. We had specialized training this week and it was pretty good. President Gerber talk about The Family Proclamation and also cool new finding ways with tracing and all.
Lost an amazing man this week that just got baptized a couple of weeks ago because of family things I guess.  Had our first meeting up in Croswell for the people up north. About 40 + kids showed up to it which was okay, many people were out of town. Planning to have a lot more the 3rd Sunday in June.

It was amazing to be able to talk to the family yesterday and also Brandon over in Mexico! :) I'm so glade that I have an amazing family that keeps me focus even though I might have only a month in a half left. It's funny to talk to Elders and Sister that still have a good minute left in there mission and the parents already are making plans.  Oh.........Ya thanks for the package like 3 months ago, just got it last week. haha

 Love Elder Jenson
